T2 Week 1

Hello boys and girls

I hope the first week of school was great for you. It was for me, until I lost my voice. I appreciate your good behavior and understanding this week and I hope you keep up the good behavior

Before we start a new week, let us recall what we have learnt for English and Math.

For English, we read new big book titled "Is The Wise Owl Wise?" We also learnt new words such as the four seasons, Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. We also learnt more about animals, like, squirrels, foxes, badgers, owls and places such as the forest. Besides, that, we also learnt the conjunction "and"! Do you remember what conjunctions are? We also learnt about irregular verbs, irregular verbs are verbs that do not end with -ed in the past tense form. Do you remember the words we learnt?

For Mathematics, we started on Multiplication Table of 2. I am pleased to know that most of you spent your holidays studying your multiplication table. We learnt how to skip count using our fingers. Next week, we will start on Multiplication Table of 3! I have some activities lined up for you, so be ready!

In other news, I understand some of you are wondering what your EPAL activity will be this term, well, I have checked with the teacher in-charge and you will be doing the Sport Programme! So remember to wear your p.e attire every Thursday.

Admin Updates

Dear Parents,

Here are some updates with regards to Primary 2D

1) Healthy Snack Program.

For the whole month of April, our pupils will be provided with fruits during their EPAL break on Wednesdays and Thursdays. However, as we are still in the month of March,we encourage parents to prepare food for the children for the EPAL breaks.

2) Meet The Parents

Meet The Parents will be held on 26th March 2012. I will be in class Primary 2D, along with Mr Ali. With regards to whether the Mother Tongue teacher would be present, I will update you as soon as possible. . I look forward to meet everyone.

3) Change of timetable.

There is a change in Timetable. The changes are highlighted in yellow. Please take note of the changes and ensure that the student bring the correct materials on the correct date. I will prepare a copy for the students to bring home tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

So happy to see that you are all adjusting well to Miss Sakinah. I'm sorry I did not get to say goodbye to all of you & suddenly disappeared after Monday. My baby decided to come out early & I gave birth to her on Monday night.

Hello!

Hello children of Primary 2D!

I remember when I first introduced myself, only some of you had a chance to ask me questions. So, for those who are still wondering who I am, I hope this helps!

I am Miss Sakinah, I come from a family of 5. I have 2 brothers, one elder and one younger brother. So for those of you who tell me “perseverance (is) when you have to endure your brothers telling boring stories”, I have been through that and I understand what you feel. Haha. Besides that, my hobbies are reading and swimming, however due to my busy schedule, I hardly have time to head down to the nearest swimming complex. I enjoy reading books on fantasy and adventure! My favourite series is definitely the Harry Potter series. I have the full collection including the extra books like, Quidditch Through The Ages and Beasts and Where To Find Them! What are your favourite books?

Besides reading and swimming, i love watching movies! I have always liked watching animated movies, especially from the company, Pixar. Pixar produce movies like, Monsters Inc. , Finding Nemo, Up, Toy Story and even Cars! However, i do not deny that Dreamworks produce good animation movies too. For example, Shrek is one of my favourites (Puss in Boots the cutest cat!) Remember 2 days ago i read the story “The Lorax”, though i did not manage to finish reading the story with you, i hope you would go to the library and look for the book to read. For those of you who are even more interested, ask your parents to bring to the cinema and catch the movie. Provided you have completed your holiday homework of course!

Other than that, i am a BIG EATER! I LOVE FOOD!!! My favourite dish is CHICKEN RICE! How many of you like Chicken Rice too? I also love to bake, I have tried baking almond cookies, chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes and even cheesecakes! If you are interested, i can pass the recipe to you and maybe you can try it at home. Don’t worry, i am not a professional baker so my recipes are easy to follow.

I hope you have learnt more about me. Now it is your turn, tell me more about you!

Holistic Assessment

Dear Parents,

Firstly, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, I am Miss Sakinah and will be taking on the main duties for EL and Math. The past two weeks was eventful for me because I was given the chance to know the children of 2D better. 2D is a jovial class and my days are never boring with them. I hope we can continue learning from one another.

Anyway, the reason for this post is to inform you of the Holistic Assessment File. By today, Thursday, 8^th March 2012, the children of 2D should bring home their Holistic Assessment File. Kindly look through the file and make sure that the papers stated below are signed.
